Today marks World MS Day – an event celebrated by MS Societies and communities around the globe annually on May 26.
Designed to raise awareness of the issues facing people living with multiple sclerosis, this day also brings people together with a common purpose. The theme this year is employment, and a report into the economic impact of MS will be released. For more details, click here.

Locally, a number of activities are taking place. MS Queensland will hold a World MS Day seminar in Brisbane, discussing a number of topics including the strategic direction of the Society, our MS Ambassador program and updates on research, treatments and therapies.
Today also kicks off MS Awareness Week and the national Kiss Goodbye to MS campaign. This is a fun, visual and simple way of increasing understanding of multiple sclerosis. Click here for more details.
Queenslanders will join thousands of people around the world this week for the MS Global Dinner Party, which raises funds to support those living with MS. Dinner parties, game nights, cocktail soirees and casual gatherings will be held across the state. To register your event, click here.
MS Awareness Week runs until June 4 and numerous community fundraising activities will be held, including an ambitious adventure involving four medical students who are walking from Townsville to Mackay to raise money for MS.
If you cannot attend a World MS Day or MS Awareness Week event, simply discussing the issues facing people with MS with your friends, family and co-workers is beneficial.
